KENTUCKY PERFORMING ARTS - THE ARTS CONNECT US

Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA) partnered with Mightily to evolve its brand identity and strengthen its voice as a unifying cultural force throughout the state. The result was a refreshed brand anchored by a powerful new tagline, a purpose-driven positioning statement, and creative assets designed to reflect the emotional resonance of live performance and community connection.

The Challenge

With three unique venues and a wide range of programming, KPA’s brand presence had become diffused. The organization needed a unified message and refreshed materials that could better convey the breadth of its impact while inspiring deeper engagement from audiences, partners, and donors alike, clearly articulating its purpose and passion for the arts.

Approach

Mightily led a collaborative brand messaging process to distill the essence of Kentucky Performing Arts into messaging that could inspire both internally and externally:

  • New Tagline: The Arts Connect Us
    This concise phrase embodies the idea that the arts serve as a bridge across communities, cultures, and generations.
  • New Positioning Statement:
    “At Kentucky Performing Arts, we believe that the arts connect us all. We believe in amplifying artistic voices and inspiring creativity. Through performances, events, and educational programs, we bring people throughout Kentucky and throughout the country, together to share in the joy, understanding, and connection that only the arts can inspire.”

This statement articulates not only what KPA does, but why it matters. This core message is now a foundation for KPA’s communications, reinforcing its commitment to access, creativity, and connection.


Creative Execution

  • Video Production:
    Mightily produced a centerpiece video showcasing audience reactions at KPA events, layered with performance clips to demonstrate the powerful emotional exchange between artist and audience. This video was adapted for use in television spots, social media, website features, and donor outreach materials, serving as both a promotional tool and a heartfelt statement of purpose.
  • Signage & Print Collateral:
    New branded materials were created to align with the refreshed messaging. This included in-venue signage, wayfinding elements, and street-level banners, as well as printed collateral to support performances and donor engagement, all visually unified by the new brand voice and design system.

Outcome

The new brand direction established by Mightily gave Kentucky Performing Arts a cohesive, emotionally resonant identity that reflects the organization’s values and ambitions. The messaging and visual assets now work together to communicate KPA’s role as a statewide convener and catalyst for the arts.
