Bringing a Century-Old Family Farm to Life Online

How do you preserve the heart of a beloved, century-old, family-owned farm while transforming its digital presence to connect with modern audiences and drive both online and on-site engagement?

Eckert’s Family Farms is an iconic Midwestern destination with four locations across Illinois and Kentucky that offers everything from “pick-your-own” produce and farm markets to restaurants and seasonal events. With growing demand for up-to-date event information, location-specific experiences, and digital engagement, the Eckert’s team turned to Mightily to both redesign their website and build integrated digital marketing campaigns that would attract and engage young families and new visitors.

Website Approach

Mightily led a full website redesign and rebuild grounded in our Discover–Distillation–Strategy–Brand Concept process. Through deep interviews with Eckert family members, staff, and guests, we uncovered insights into what made the farm a cherished destination—and what users needed from the site.

We built a custom, mobile-first, location-aware WordPress website that:

  • Delivered a modern, intuitive user experience
  • Supported real-time updates on crop availability
  • Made it easy to explore offerings by location or activity
  • Empowered the Eckert’s team to manage events, promotions, and content in-house

The design honored the warmth and authenticity of the brand while delivering a flexible, scalable platform. The result: a seamless online experience that mirrored the charm of an in-person visit.

Following the launch of the new website, user interaction increased by over 244% year-over-year. The average pages per visit jumped from just 1–2 pages to 5–8 pages per session, reflecting deeper engagement and a more successful user journey.

Marketing Strategy

Building on the success of the new website, Mightily developed a series of targeted digital marketing campaigns to promote farm-wide and location-specific events throughout the year. These included seasonal campaigns for peach and apple picking, the Cider Shed opening, and holiday pies—designed to both drive awareness and increase foot traffic.

Campaigns ran across YouTube and Paid Social, balancing strong creative with performance-driven strategy. Messaging was tailored to highlight the fun, family-friendly atmosphere of the farm, while analytics guided budget allocation and optimization.

Did It Work?

The social media campaigns ran on YouTube and through Paid Social and focused on general farm awareness along with the promotion of key events during popular seasons of the year for visitors – peach picking, apple picking, their cider shed opening, holiday pies, and more.

  • 13.3% click-through rate (CTR) – 50% higher than industry benchmark

  • $0.14 average cost-per-click (CPC) – significantly below the $2–$4 industry average

  • $0.99 average cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) – far outperforming the $12–$14 industry benchmark

Internal feedback confirmed that visits and sales increased during promoted periods, driven by strategic timing and messaging.
